What is PROAES
- This is a program of student support where a nutritious breakfast is provided everyday to help the education of the children and to support the scholastic needs of each child. It also supports the spiritual and moral instruction of each child.
When the Program was Established
The PROAES started their work in March of 2004 by the motivation of concerned people who wanted to help the children of Guatemala with limited resources.
Justification
In the Guatemalan society there is a large group of people with limited resources. They cannot provide the nutritional or educational needs of their children. This results in Children dropping out of school prematurely and then participating in antisocial behavior.
Goals
To maintain a high educational level of each child.
To provide a nutritious breakfast to help them function at a higher level.
To prevent the participation of children in antisocial activities by giving friendship and role models.
To provide them with tools to meet these goals.
To have young people who will be an example to others.
To offer moral and spiritual growth.
Objectives
To offer Guatemala the opportunity to have future citizens with values and principals.
To diminish the percentage of children who will enlist themselves in antisocial groups.
To improve the quality of life of each child and the future families formed by them.
Who are members?
Actually is integrate for:
1700 Children between 6 and 14 years old.
Founders sponsors, member to star the program with a monthly donation.
Specific sponsors, they are those that have been added to the sponsorship taking a child like sponsored his monthly.
Operative sponsors, those are all that are in charge of the execution in voluntary form of all the services, (cookers, breakfast, classes, clinic, clean, etc.)
Professional sponsors, those are all the professionals to give us specifically help like Doctors, Engineers, Dentist, etc.
Organization
Currently there are 150 children enrolled in the ‘neighborhood Eucalyptuses’ and 100 more in ‘La Isla’ both located at the Colony Santa Fe of Zone 13 in Guatemala City. 1,450 on jungle villages in Izabal and Santa Rosa states. Each child receives breakfast, spiritual and moral support with extra classes, English, computer, etc. And 80 more who receive this sponsor too.
Projection
Currently there are thousand children between 6 and 14 years old living in the surrounding neighborhoods. We wish to increase our number of children as soon as funding is available. We also wish to build a new feeding facility with medical clinic and laboratory and classrooms with computers for the education of the children. Bring develop to each village, giving them better kind of life. Projects like water, electricity, food, job, etc. Increase the education, nutritional, spiritual quality of the children.
Needs
The sponsorship for each child is $30.00 per child for breakfast, extra curricular activities and education.
Financing for the construction of the facility, medical clinic, Laboratory, classrooms, and computer classrooms with computers.
Monthly sponsor of each village where we are working.
